Apache County Registration Requirements
Sex offenders in Apache County must follow Arizona state law. The rules are consistent across all counties. The sheriff enforces them strictly.
New offenders must register within 10 days of conviction or release from custody. People moving to Apache County from another state have 72 hours after arriving to register. This window does not include weekends or legal holidays. Given the limited office hours, plan ahead. Call before you travel to confirm the office will be open when you arrive.
Annual registration happens during your birth month. The $250 assessment fee is due each year. You must appear in person at the sheriff's office to verify your information and take a new photo. Address changes also require in-person updates within 72 hours. The same applies to job changes, vehicle changes, and new online accounts.
Failure to register or keep information current is a Class 4 felony under A.R.S. Section 13-3824. The sheriff will issue a warrant if you miss deadlines.
Note: The Monday through Thursday schedule means no registration happens on Fridays in Apache County.
Sex Offenders on Tribal Lands
Much of Apache County falls within the Navajo Nation. This creates jurisdictional issues for sex offender registration. Offenders living on reservation land must generally register with both tribal authorities and the county sheriff.
The sheriff coordinates with Navajo Nation police on sex offender matters. If you live on tribal land in Apache County, contact both the tribal police and the county sheriff to understand your full requirements. Failing to register with either authority can result in criminal charges. The 72-hour deadlines apply regardless of whether you live on or off reservation land.
Nearby Arizona Counties
Apache County borders Navajo County and shares boundaries with New Mexico. Offenders moving to a new county must register with that sheriff within 72 hours.
