The Gila County OffenderWatch portal provides free public access to the sex offender registry. Anyone can search without creating an account.

Search by name to find a specific person. Or search by address, city, or zip code to see offenders near a location. Results include photos, addresses, and offense information. The database updates as offenders register or change their information. New arrivals to the county should appear within a few days of completing their registration with the sheriff.

Note: Some low-risk offenders may not appear in public searches based on state notification rules.

Gila County Registration Requirements

Sex offenders in Gila County must follow Arizona state law. The requirements are the same across all 15 counties. The sheriff enforces them strictly.

Initial registration must happen within 10 days of conviction or release. People moving to Gila County from another state have 72 hours to register after staying in the county for 72 hours. This deadline excludes weekends and holidays. Given the appointment-only system, call immediately when you arrive to schedule your registration. Missing the deadline is a Class 4 felony under A.R.S. Section 13-3824.

Annual registration happens during your birth month. The $250 fee is due each year. You must go to the sheriff's office in person to verify your information and take a new photo. Address changes require updates within 72 hours. The same applies to job changes, vehicle changes, and new online accounts.

Registration in Mountain Country

Gila County covers mountainous terrain in central Arizona. Some offenders live in remote areas with limited road access. Winter weather can make travel difficult.

Despite these challenges, the deadlines still apply. Plan ahead for your registration visits. If bad weather is expected, call the sheriff's office to discuss options. The appointment system allows some flexibility in scheduling, but you cannot miss deadlines due to weather. Use the Globe or Payson office based on which is closer to where you live.
